Description
The state funding of North Rhine-Westphalia supports non-profit booster associations of public and substitute schools in NRW in organizing historical-political school trips to memorial sites of political tyranny within Germany and in European countries. The aim of this grant is to deepen the educational and commemorative practice in schools and to impart a sustainable understanding to participants through intensive on-site engagement. Project funding is provided in the form of a lump-sum grant, thereby making a reliable contribution to the realization of pedagogically supervised trips.
Eligible expenses include travel costs, accommodation and meals in youth hostels or educational centers, entrance fees, fees for local experts, as well as preparatory events such as visits by contemporary witnesses. The grant amounts to €50 per person for domestic trips and €150 per person for international trips (maximum €1,300 or €3,900 per group, respectively). A prerequisite for an 80% funding rate is a personal contribution of at least 20% of the total costs, joint travel by public transport, accompaniment by a qualified teacher, proof of pedagogical preparation and follow-up within the subject curriculum, and engagement for at least six teaching hours (abroad: twice six hours). Applications can be submitted by May 30 for the first school semester and by October 30 for the second school semester. The application form must be accompanied by the concept, program schedule, financial plan, participant list, and proof of professional supervision.
