Description
Under the sponsorship of the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labour and Social Affairs, the grant program supports the establishment and maintenance of local self-help groups for people with physical or mental disabilities as well as chronic illnesses and their relatives in Bavaria. Up to €400 per group can be applied for annually to finance regular meetings, information and experience exchange, and support services for social participation. The funding is provided as a one-time annual grant and requires an application by November 1 of the year preceding the approval period. The aim is to strengthen self-responsible structures, sustainably promote the inclusion and quality of life of those affected, and ensure long-term local networking.
Eligible for funding are self-help initiatives with at least six permanently active members, open to all affected persons in the catchment area, and conducting at least eight meetings per calendar year (exceptions possible). Regular exchange is intended to ensure mutual support in everyday life and promote knowledge transfer. A prerequisite for approval, in addition to the permanent orientation of the group, is the submission of the following documents: application form, proof of membership (Appendix 1), project description (Appendix 2), and a statement from an accredited umbrella organization. The Centre Bavaria Family and Social Affairs (ZBFS) administers the allocation on behalf of the Ministry and ensures a transparent and prompt process.
