Description

The “Promotion of Endowed, Research, and Visiting Professorships” supports recognized research institutions in Salzburg in establishing outstanding scientific profiles and international knowledge transfer. Educational institutions can apply at any time for a non-repayable grant for the appointment of endowed professorships (up to five years), research professorships (up to three years), and visiting professorships (usually one semester). The initiative aims to promote excellent research projects and attract international experts for teaching and lecture activities in the region. The maximum project duration is 60 months, with each application required to demonstrate a close alignment with the Salzburg State’s mission statement for science and research as well as integration into a local research institution.

An application requires a general funding request, supplemented by a detailed project description including a cost and financing plan, information on potential project partners, and precise details regarding the location and timeframe of implementation. Endowed professorships must be publicly advertised by the universities beforehand. The funding process is managed by the Department of Economic, Science, and Research Promotion within Division 1: Economy, Tourism, and Municipalities at the Office of the Salzburg State Government. Applications can be submitted at any time, ensuring flexible planning. The grant achieves a sustainable strengthening of Salzburg as a science location and intensifies knowledge exchange at an international level.
