Description

The nationwide funding by the Perspective Foundation for General Practitioners is aimed at medical students at German universities who have committed themselves to general medicine. Through a grant model, the foundation supports practical clinical traineeships and block internships as well as the practical year (PJ) in rural general practitioner practices. Additionally, practice-oriented bootcamps, such as the “Toolbox for Establishing a Practice,” are offered to impart essential skills for future practice establishment. Furthermore, every three years the foundation awards the prestigious FAME Doctoral Thesis Prize to promote outstanding research work in the field of general medicine. Funding can be applied for continuously, provided the applicant is enrolled in human medicine studies at a German university.

With the funding objective of strengthening the next generation of general practitioners and ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage in rural areas, the foundation deliberately relies on a combination of practical experience and scientific curiosity. The diverse offerings in the fields of education & training, health, research & innovation, as well as work & social affairs, provide participants the opportunity to sharpen their skills early on while simultaneously contributing to the advancement of general medicine. The non-profit organization based in Cologne has been committed since 2011 to sustainable measures that promote a long-term commitment of young physicians to general practitioner care structures.
