Description
The qed Foundation of Bochum University of Applied Sciences supports innovative student projects with a total budget of up to €5,600. The objective is the sustainable improvement of study conditions, the revitalization of campus life, and the strengthening of civic engagement. Funding is granted to groups of bachelor’s and master’s students who realize their idea "by students – for students" in cooperation with mentors from the teaching staff or institutional partners such as the AStA or student councils. All students enrolled at Bochum University of Applied Sciences are eligible to apply, provided that a teaching staff member acts as a mentor for academic supervision or there is institutional involvement. Applications may be made for technical small equipment and software licenses as well as office supplies, printing subsidies for flyers and posters, fees for external experts, and travel cost subsidies.
Relevant for selection are the social and academic integration of participants, originality and topicality of the subject, practical relevance and focus on future skills, as well as alignment with the university’s strategic priority areas (e.g., Smart Technologies, Resources and Sustainability). Additionally, the projected impact on campus and externally, as well as the team’s prospects for success, positively influence the decision. The application must include a project description (approx. 1.5 DIN A4 pages), a financing plan, and proof of project supervision. All documents must be submitted by the deadline of February 16, 2026. Through financial support, the qed Foundation offers committed students the opportunity to implement their own ideas, establish interdisciplinary networks, and actively shape their university.
