Description

The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space supports transnational collaborative projects in coastal, marine, and polar research within the framework of the "Research for Sustainability" program. The aim is to advance sustainable developments in the marine sector and to develop solutions for environmental and climate protection. Participating institutions from Germany can apply together with international partners in consortia for grants covering personnel and material costs, travel expenses, as well as infrastructure investments. Contributions that combine outstanding scientific excellence with a clear benefit for ecological and climatic challenges in coastal and marine ecosystems are particularly welcomed. The transnational added value serves as a central criterion for the evaluation of submitted proposals.

Eligible to apply are universities, research institutions, companies, non-profit, and public organizations that pool their expertise in a cross-border consortium. A prerequisite for a successful application is demonstrable experience in marine and polar research as well as submission in accordance with the current funding guidelines of the project management agency Jülich (PtJ). Required are a detailed project description, a transparent financing plan, and curricula vitae of the project leaders. The selection process evaluates, in addition to scientific excellence, the relevance for sustainable developments and the cross-border added value of the consortia. Applications can be submitted following the publication of the respective call for proposals.
