Description

The funding of adult education institutions in Upper Austria supports legal entities based in the region that are not profit-oriented and carry out continuous, pedagogically planned educational work in the field of adult education or operate as public libraries. Both investments and ongoing expenses of legally recognized institutions are eligible for funding. Sponsors can be public institutions, non-profit associations, interest groups, and cooperatives. With a funding rate of 40% to 70%, innovative projects, media collections, and technical equipment are to be expanded and developed. The program aims to increase the quality and diversity of educational and cultural offerings as well as to create meeting and learning spaces that promote knowledge transfer and social cohesion.

Eligible expenses include, among others, the supplementation and renewal of library collections, IT hardware and software, furnishings, event and public relations work, as well as ongoing expenses in adult education institutions. Infrastructure costs (telephone, internet, electricity, heating, cleaning), personnel costs, membership fees, office supplies, room equipment, representation expenses, and expenses from previous calendar years are not considered. A minimum level of opening hours (four hours spread over at least two days), submission of the annual report to the Austrian Library Association, at least one specialist with librarian training or professional qualification, as well as proof of use of the previous year's funding are prerequisites. Applications for public libraries must be submitted by September 30 of the calendar year, while adult education institutions can submit applications continuously. This transparent and inclusive funding offer makes a decisive contribution to the sustainable strengthening of cultural and educational infrastructure in Upper Austria.
