Description
The state of Rhineland-Palatinate supports forest-related educational measures aimed at children and young people, which take place in the natural habitat of the forest. This initiative assists certified forest educators in implementing environmental and sustainability education programs outside of school settings. With a flat-rate grant of EUR 100.00 per conducted event, additional, quality-assured offerings are to be created that promote the protection of natural life foundations. The funding approach supports organizations as well as freelance initiators who implement innovative teaching and learning concepts in the areas of environmental protection, energy efficiency, and climate protection in the forest.
The funding requires that the forest educational events last at least 2 hours and are held in the forest. Another essential aspect is a minimum participant number of 10 persons – in justified individual cases, such as inclusive groups, this number may be undercut. Furthermore, it is necessary that participation fees are charged, thereby ensuring active engagement and sustainable financing of the educational measure. Only those who have successfully completed the Forest Pedagogy certificate and are thus entitled to use the title are eligible for this support. Regular group appointments or modules within a series of events are funded only once as a single event to minimize administrative effort and ensure quality assurance.
The financial support is provided as a grant, with EUR 100.00 awarded per eligible event. To ensure efficient use of funds, a minimum amount of EUR 300.00 per application is required – corresponding to at least three individual events. This model aims to sustainably strengthen qualified educational offerings and thereby meet the ongoing demand for extracurricular environmental education formats in the forest. Through targeted support of forest pedagogical projects, the innovative communication of environmental and sustainability topics in Rhineland-Palatinate is further expanded, making a significant contribution to forest protection and the promotion of forward-looking educational measures.
