Description
Funding Focus and Objective
This program of the state of Saxony-Anhalt grants financial subsidies for forest environmental and climate services aimed at the preservation and optimization of near-natural forest habitat areas. Funding is provided, among other things, for the lifelong renunciation of the use of habitat trees, leaving deadwood until its complete decomposition, the preservation of old-growth stands by refraining from harvesting measures, as well as other habitat-enhancing maintenance measures in forest habitats. The funding is aligned with the thematic areas of Agriculture & Rural Development, Environmental/Nature Conservation, and Energy Efficiency & Climate Protection and requires a minimum subsidy of €500 per application. Applications can be submitted annually until January 31 and contribute to the sustainable protection and enhancement of habitats for wild animal and plant species.
Eligibility and Funding Requirements
Eligible for funding are natural and legal persons under private and public law as well as recognized forestry associations according to the Federal Forest Act, provided that forest areas in Saxony-Anhalt are used which are designated as Natura 2000 sites or are of high conservation value. Proof of ownership or usage rights or membership in the applying association is required. Forestry operations of 30 ha or more must submit a current forest management plan, a forest management inventory, or an expert report. Measures must not constitute legally binding compensatory or replacement measures. Companies in economic difficulty are excluded. For the application, the following must be submitted via the Electronic Agricultural Application Portal (ELAISA): the completed application form, proof of land use or association membership, if applicable planning documents, and the habitat type mapping guide. Funding commences upon approval prior to the start of the measures.
