Description

The state of Lower Saxony provides financial support to public and non-profit organizations in the form of grants for welfare-related tasks as well as exceptional, innovative projects in the social sector. Funded are initiatives with a model character that strengthen self-determination, participation, and social cohesion. Measures in the fields of inclusion, care, health promotion, volunteer activities, and intergenerational dialogue may be considered. The grant amounts to up to 90% of eligible expenses and can be used for personnel costs, material costs, travel expenses, as well as expert opinions or model projects. Project durations are limited to a maximum of 36 months, enabling long-term planning with supraregional impact.

Eligible applicants include both natural and legal persons, such as associations, clubs, municipalities, and other public or private institutions. A prerequisite is that the project has not yet started and that the financing plan includes at least 10% own or third-party funds. Further criteria include cost-effectiveness, thriftiness, and significant state interest through innovation or model character. Required for submission are, among others, an application form, excerpt from the statutes or tax exemption certificate, financing plan, bank details, proof of input tax deduction entitlement, a project description with objectives, as well as evidence of available own funds. Applications can be submitted continuously as long as budget funds are available and are evaluated based on criteria such as degree of innovation, supraregional impact, and own funding ratio.
