Description

The City of Vienna – Environmental Protection (MA 22) supports non-profit associations, other private, non-commercial organizations, and natural persons aged 18 and over who wish to implement nature and environmental protection measures with a clear connection to the city area. Projects that serve the public interest and are closely linked to Vienna in terms of content, institution, or geography are eligible for funding. Applications can be submitted continuously as long as budget funds are available. The funding amount is up to EUR 250,000 for individual grants or up to EUR 1,000,000 per year for overall funding. The maximum project duration is 12 months.

Personnel expenses, material costs, travel expenses, as well as overhead costs are eligible for funding, provided they are necessary to achieve the funding objective. Non-eligible costs include representation expenses, guest gifts, tips, voucher purchases, as well as taxi and rental car costs outside Vienna without justified reason. Funding requirements include a verifiable environmental reference, a geographic or institutional connection to Vienna, compliance with the EcoPurchase criteria for procurements, and the absence of profit-making intent. Applicants submit an online application via the MA 22 form and provide a project description with schedule, financial plan, proof of non-profit status (for legal entities), official photo ID or registration confirmation, criminal record extract, bank details, and statements of other received funding. Allocation is based on formal, substantive, and financial criteria with special consideration of synergies with existing Viennese environmental protection projects.
