Funding objective
Innovative projects are supported that transform education in Austria in the spirit of lifelong learning: from kindergarten through school and university to adult education. In cooperation with research and industry, the education system is to be sustainably further developed.

Description
The Innovation Foundation for Education supports innovative initiatives in the education and research sector throughout Austria through grants. Educational and research institutions, schools, early childhood education and extracurricular providers, universities, universities of applied sciences, companies, and non-profit adult education organizations can submit projects that rethink the principle of lifelong learning across all educational levels – from kindergarten to adult education. Through close cooperation with industry and research, the domestic education system is to be sustainably developed and strategically renewed. A continuous submission option enables a “one-stop shop” via the Education Funding platform, operated by OeAD-GmbH on behalf of the Innovation Foundation.
A prerequisite for funding is the involvement of schools, early childhood education, or extracurricular educational institutions; furthermore, the criteria of the Innovation Foundation – quality and relevance, risk orientation, practical and innovation orientation – must be met, as well as diversity, inclusion and transformation orientation, openness, impact and system orientation, anticipation and adaptability, sustainability, equity of opportunity, and a high level of networking. The annual budget framework is approximately 2 million euros, and applications can be submitted at any time. The foundation additionally awards successful projects with quality seals and highlights the diverse pioneers in an annually updated educational innovation map.
