Description
Since its founding in 1945, the Deutsche Hilfsgemeinschaft Foundation has supported a variety of measures to alleviate distress, hunger, and hardship. The funding program is aimed at people in need and supports projects that sustainably improve the quality of life of the target groups. Through the provision of Christmas package campaigns, poor, elderly, lonely individuals as well as destitute families are supported by conveying a sense of security during the festive season. The Christmas packages, which are distributed annually in large numbers, symbolize a commitment based on tradition and long-standing experience. In addition to this campaign, special emphasis is also placed on holiday excursions for children from socially and financially disadvantaged families, allowing these participants to experience an unforgettable time in relaxing and child-appropriate holiday activities.
Another important focus of the funding program is the promotion of travel for seniors aged 65 and over who have low pensions or basic social security. This special travel offer provides older people with the opportunity to participate in short but eventful excursions within Germany or to other European countries. The organized travel initiative not only supports the mobility of seniors but also strengthens social cohesion by creating shared experiences within a community of like-minded individuals. These diverse support offerings are available to all applicants informally and continuously, enabling flexible and needs-based applications.
With a broad spectrum of funding measures, the Deutsche Hilfsgemeinschaft Foundation covers various areas, including children and youth as well as social projects. The goal is to strengthen vulnerable target groups in times of uncertainty and to open up new life perspectives for them. The funding is based on an idea implemented decades ago by the founding members and has since proven successful. By supporting initiatives such as Christmas package campaigns, holiday activities, and travel offers, an important contribution is made to social integration and quality of life. The program addresses both families and older people and underscores the foundation’s commitment to sustainably supporting people in difficult life situations and strengthening their belief in a positive future.
