Description
Since 1928, the Salzburg Tourism Promotion Fund (TFF) has supported projects of supra-regional significance throughout the state of Salzburg. Funding is provided for development, expansion, and safeguarding initiatives as well as industry-relevant events and shared infrastructures that sustainably strengthen the economic and structural tourism location. Additionally, broad-based tourism advertising and measures for regional structural improvement may be subsidized. The fund offers unlimited submission opportunities prior to project commencement and grants subsidies—usually up to 22,000 euros—with higher amounts possible in exceptional cases. The allocation of funds is based on the tourism-promoting effect, the amount of own funds, the broadest possible distribution within the state of Salzburg, and the fund’s capacity.
Eligible applicants include municipalities, tourism associations, clubs with statutory tourism-promoting activities, and commercial enterprises whose services are not aimed at short-term profit generation. A prerequisite is proof of relevant own funds and a coherent overall concept that would not be realizable without the fund’s contribution despite utilizing all other financing sources. Application documents include a detailed project description, a cost and financing plan, as well as the latest annual financial statement or an income-expenditure account. After submission, a fund commission reviews the completeness and effectiveness of the project. Payment is made after project completion and submission of the full proof of use. The TFF thus ensures efficient support of innovative and sustainable tourism initiatives in the state of Salzburg.
