Funding for Contemporary History Projects

The program supports diverse contemporary history initiatives in Carinthia as well as throughout the entire Alpine-Adriatic region and in cross-border cooperations of the state of Carinthia. Funding is provided for both scientifically substantiated publications and the acquisition of historical objects, as well as the implementation of projects or events with a clearly defined contemporary historical reference. Eligible applicants include natural and legal persons, companies, non-profit organizations, as well as public institutions. The range of eligible expenses extends from publication costs to project and event costs, up to acquisition costs, thereby supporting creative endeavors, exhibition concepts, and research projects alike. By continuing the application possibility without a fixed deadline, time-flexible planning and implementation of initiatives is enabled.

A fully completed application form including a financing plan is required for submission; additionally, a subsidy declaration and a funding commitment must be attached. After a positive funding decision, a verification of receipts and cancellation of the original invoices up to the approved grant amount will take place. A final report on the use of funds must be submitted within the deadline to document the success of the project. The processing is handled unbureaucratically by the Office of the Carinthian State Government, Department 1 – Directorate of the State Office in Klagenfurt, which acts as the funding agency, assumes overall coordination, and is available for inquiries. This funding instrument makes a decisive contribution to the preservation and communication of contemporary historical knowledge in the region.
