Funding in the Field of Literature

The program "Funding in the Field of Literature" of the State of Burgenland has been sustainably supporting literary initiatives and publications with a clear connection to Burgenland since 2014. Funding is provided for readings, workshops, book publications (prose, poetry, anthologies, audio CDs, stage works), as well as a variety of literary events. Through direct grants, both creative projects by authors and cultural initiatives, literary associations, and publishers are strengthened in their publication and event activities. The open-ended funding opportunity enables continuous commitment to the cultural revitalization of the region, while the evaluation by an independent literary advisory board ensures a quality-oriented selection.

Interested applicants – whether individuals, non-profit organizations, associations, or companies – must demonstrate a proven connection to Burgenland and submit a standardized funding application. A positive decision by the Burgenland Cultural Administration is made after the submission of the literary advisory board’s recommendation and the complete documentation. The proof of use is verified through original receipts to ensure the appropriate use of funds.
