Description
The call "Research for Climate Protection" supports innovative research projects at colleges, universities, and non-university research institutions in Baden-Württemberg that develop new concepts, methods, or technologies for the efficient and verifiable removal of CO₂ from the atmosphere. Both technical and nature-based negative emission technologies are supported to effectively counteract global warming. Up to €350,000 in funding is available per project for a maximum duration of 36 months. The Vector Foundation invites researchers at all career stages to submit individual projects or collaborative proposals and thus contribute to CO₂ reduction and environmental protection.
100% of project-related expenses such as personnel costs, material and travel expenses, as well as publication costs, plus overhead of up to 20% of the funding amount, are eligible for funding. Applications can be submitted via the online portal starting January 15, 2026; the cut-off dates are April 30, 2026, and September 30, 2026. Evaluation criteria include the degree of innovation, scalability, economic viability, as well as the ecological and social acceptance of the projects. Non-profit educational institutions and public research organizations from Baden-Württemberg thus have the opportunity to advance pioneering solutions for climate protection with a flexible budget and comprehensive substantive support.
