Description
The 2026 Research Award of the German Brain Foundation (Deutsche Hirnstiftung e.V.) is open nationwide to private individuals, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations engaged in neurological research approaches in the field of neuromuscular diseases. With an endowed sum of 5,000 euros, the award supports projects ranging from basic research and clinical studies to health services research, provided there is a clear connection to a potential benefit for patients. Submissions from members of the foundation are given special consideration. Evaluation criteria include scientific quality and degree of innovation, relevance to neuromuscular diseases, and the expected benefit for those affected. Experts from the advisory board and the executive board conduct an independent review before the award is presented in November during a scientific workshop.
Applications require the submission of documents by August 31, 2026: a letter of motivation, a curriculum vitae in tabular form, a list of previous publications or a project description, and – if the work is completed – the original publication as a PDF. A completed application form completes the documentation. The German Brain Foundation invites researchers at all career stages to submit their innovative approaches and thus make a decisive contribution to advancing neurological research. Interested parties can find all call details and the application form available for download in both PDF and DOCX formats. With this award, the foundation sends a clear signal for sustainable contributions to improving care and quality of life for people with neuromuscular diseases.
