Description

The German Morbus Bechterew Foundation awards a research prize endowed with €7,500 every two to three years for outstanding scientific work in the German language on Morbus Bechterew or related inflammatory spinal diseases. Eligible nationwide are individual researchers as well as academic institutions dedicated to the field of spondyloarthritis. The prize honors innovative projects that address clinical as well as experimental, social, or historical questions, thereby providing new impulses in diagnostics, therapy, and the discovery of pathogenesis. The award strengthens interdisciplinary knowledge transfer and helps to inform affected individuals and the public about the latest research findings.

For submission, the work must be unpublished or published since the last application deadline. A prerequisite is a German-language composition or – in the case of English-language manuscripts from the German-speaking area – an accompanying German summary. The evaluation criteria include the degree of innovation, relevance to Morbus Bechterew, and scientific quality. The aim of the research prize is to intensify the study of inflammatory spinal diseases, clarify causes, and further develop effective treatment strategies. Researchers at all career stages thus receive valuable recognition for their work and a financial incentive to engage with new questions in this specialized field.
