Description
The Eutin Regional Library Foundation offers six-month research fellowships for doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers pursuing innovative projects within the library’s collection and research focus areas. Particular emphasis is placed on projects in the field of historical travel research, including historical cartography, as well as regional cultural landscape studies related to the cultural and literary history of Eutin and the former Prince-Bishopric of Lübeck. Participants receive a monthly stipend of €1,000 (€800 for living expenses and €200 as a material cost allowance) and may additionally apply for up to €200 to cover travel expenses. For the duration of the research, a rent-free apartment in the “House of Foundations” in Eutin is provided, with a residency requirement in place.
Eligible applicants include doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers (doctoral degree obtained no more than six years prior) from both Germany and abroad, whose work is thematically aligned with the library’s holdings. The fellowship begins either on March 1 or September 1 of each year. The next application cycle requires a complete submission by May 31, 2026 for the start date of September 1, 2026. Applications must include, among other documents, a research proposal, a curriculum vitae, and proof of enrollment or doctoral completion. This program makes a significant contribution to strengthening academic networks in Schleswig-Holstein and offers researchers the opportunity to further develop their projects amid a rich historical collection environment.
