Description

The training weekend "Trauma-Sensitive Work in Anti-Bias and Democracy Education" is aimed at multipliers in youth and educational work in Thuringia, especially (prospective) anti-bias trainers who wish to expand their methodological expertise with a trauma-sensitive perspective. The event invites an intensive engagement with power structures, prejudices, and experiences of discrimination, linking this reflection with fundamental questions of democratic practice: What characterizes open societies? How can empathy be promoted? And what contribution does a trauma-sensitive approach make in political education? With the support of experts in trauma pedagogy, systemic counseling, and anti-bias training, dynamics of discrimination are made visible, personal positions are questioned, and new, discrimination-sensitive courses of action are developed for everyday educational practice.

The seminar will take place from November 20 to 22, 2026, at the European Youth Education and Meeting Centre Weimar (EJBW). Participants can choose between a solidarity contribution (€100), regular price (€200), or institutionally aligned rate (€300); further discounts are possible upon justified need. The seminar language is German. Registrations must be submitted by October 30, 2026. The goal is to empower participants as competent multipliers so that trauma-sensitive methods can be sustainably integrated into anti-bias and democracy education projects throughout Thuringia. The EJBW offers modern seminar rooms, comfortable accommodations, and an inspiring learning atmosphere in a central location in Weimar.
