Photography: Funding for Associations, Comparable Institutions, and Individuals

The funding program "Photography: Support for Associations, Comparable Institutions, and Individuals" assists interest groups, associations, non-profit organizations, as well as private individuals based in Vienna in financing artistic photography. Both annual programs and individual projects can be partially financed with a grant. A prerequisite is Austrian citizenship or permanent residence in Austria, as well as a financially and substantively secured project with personal contribution according to economic capacity. Furthermore, information on other funding applications to federal or other bodies must be provided in the application. The allocation is carried out according to the criteria of the Art Promotion Act 1988, which aims to promote a sustainable anchoring of contemporary photography and to create stable framework conditions for artists.

Applications can be submitted at any time, with deadlines for project funding on February 28, May 31, August 31, and November 30. Annual funding applications must be submitted by October 15, and applications should be complete at least three months before the project start. The general application form as well as the form for scholarships, acquisitions, and studios must be enclosed with the application. The Arts and Culture Section of the responsible Federal Ministry at Concordiaplatz 2 in 1010 Vienna is responsible for the allocation process. The continuously funded funding rounds provide a reliable planning basis that supports both established project holders and individual artists in the field of artistic photography.
