Description
The voluntary health insurance according to StSUG is aimed at individuals with social neediness who have their main residence in the federal state of Styria, particularly in Graz, and who cannot access any other health insurance. As a permanent subsidy, the City of Graz covers 100% of the contributions for voluntary health insurance pursuant to § 9 StSUG. This offer reduces existential health risks and prevents hardship cases caused by uninsured medical treatments. The program operates continuously, allowing applications to be submitted at any time to the Social Welfare Office of the City of Graz, whereby retroactive health insurance coverage is excluded. Applicants incur no personal costs, as all eligible expenses – namely the health insurance contributions – are fully covered. In this way, the City of Graz makes an effective contribution to social security and strengthens the basic health care of people in need.
Eligible for funding are third-country nationals with a temporary residence permit under the Settlement and Residence Act (NAG), who are lawfully residing in Styria and can demonstrate a hardship situation. In addition to an official photo ID and the residence permit, income proofs for the last three months of all household members, evidence of social hardship, and signed data protection consents for all persons living in the household must be submitted. A liability declaration according to NAG and, if applicable, proof of legal representation complete the documentation. The review and approval are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the General Funding Guidelines of the City of Graz, ensuring that funds reach those who need them most urgently. This offer strengthens health security and prevents social exclusion. Interested parties can obtain all necessary information at the Social Welfare Office of the City of Graz, Schmiedgasse 26, 8010 Graz.
