Description

The weltwärts volunteer service of the Ayopaya Foundation is aimed at young adults who wish to engage in development cooperation. Each year, the recognized sending organization of the Archdiocese of Bamberg, together with the Ayopaya Mission Circle, sends participants to Bolivia to support educational and social projects on site. This twelve-month assignment is funded by a grant that covers all relevant costs and enables a smooth start. The goal is to strengthen social cohesion, promote rural development, and foster intercultural exchange. The program content ranges from agricultural initiatives to child and youth education, as well as democratic and social projects in the Cochabamba region. Applications should preferably be submitted by November for the following year.

Interested participants must be at least 18 years old and have completed school or vocational training. Good Spanish skills, a Christian basic attitude, and willingness to attend local church services are further essential requirements. In addition, the ability to adapt to life under simple conditions at around 2,700 meters altitude is necessary. Selection is based on language proficiency, proof of training, and personal suitability. Personal preparation meetings on site and an evaluation after return ensure sustainable support. The program thus offers not only a unique experience abroad but also makes a valuable contribution to international development cooperation and strengthens understanding of global solidarity.
