Description

In Hamburg, the Elbstation of the non-profit Elbstiftung offers young adults between 16 and 27 years the opportunity to complete a Voluntary Social Year (FSJ) in the fields of child and youth development, culture, and media education. Participants gain diverse professional experience and actively contribute to theater-educational, film, and radio project-related activities. The focus lies on the socio-pedagogical supervision of youth groups, event organization for mid-year and final presentations, as well as marketing, allowing creative ideas to be incorporated into social media campaigns and public relations. Through close collaboration with experienced project leaders, FSJ participants gain insights into the fields of organization and management as well as the promotion of social cohesion and democratic participation.

The duration of service is 12 months and is particularly aimed at school graduates or students on waiting lists who demonstrate teamwork skills, commitment, and an interest in cultural and social topics. Selection criteria include motivated personal engagement, communication skills, and enthusiasm for creative project work. Applications require a meaningful cover letter, a tabular CV, and relevant certificates; the application phase will reopen in March 2026. The FSJ supports discovering individual strengths and gaining career orientation without direct costs for participants – a valuable opportunity to further develop personal and professional competencies in a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment.
