Leisure Projects of the Ida and Otto Chelius Foundation

The Ida and Otto Chelius Foundation is committed in Baden-Württemberg to non-profit organizations, associations, and public institutions that offer children and young people in Freiburg and the surrounding area a diverse leisure program. Through a grant program, the foundation supports projects that inspire young people with creative, sporting, and nature-educational activities to gain important life experiences while simultaneously strengthening social skills. Through open formats such as mobile play units, music competitions, or experiential learning venues, the initiative promotes the development of teamwork, responsibility, and conflict resolution skills. The ongoing funding opportunity ensures that new and established projects are continuously financially supported for the benefit of the participants.

Eligible for funding are non-profit interest groups, associations, and public institutions active in the Freiburg area that organize programs for children and young people. A prerequisite for a grant is a written application with a detailed project description and a transparent cost breakdown. The foundation’s board reviews submitted applications at least twice a year. The Ida and Otto Chelius Foundation places great importance on sustainability, educational quality, and inclusive collaboration. Applications can be submitted at any time, allowing initiators to respond flexibly to local needs and to realize attractive leisure offerings in the long term.
