Description
The Fritz Walter Award honors football clubs from Rhineland-Palatinate that distinguish themselves through exemplary commitment to social youth projects. Under the patronage of the Fritz Walter Foundation, one winner each from the Rhineland Football Association and the Southwest German Football Association is awarded annually. The prize aims to strengthen initiatives in the areas of youth work, international understanding, addiction prevention, and combating youth unemployment. Awarded clubs receive vouchers for sports equipment to sustainably promote infrastructure in children’s and youth football. This award specifically raises awareness of fair play and social responsibility within sports.
Eligible to participate are club structures and interest groups based in Rhineland-Palatinate that can demonstrate official membership in a football club and document a social project that has already been carried out. Evaluation is based on the achievement of a goal of the Fritz Walter Foundation, exemplary commitment within the club, and documentation of a social action day for youth. A continuous application phase allows submissions throughout the year. Applications must include a formal application letter, a detailed project description, and evidence of goal attainment. Funding is provided in the form of vouchers for sports equipment, which can be specifically used to further develop social initiatives. This award offers clubs a valuable opportunity to make social engagement in sports visible and to support it sustainably.
