Description

The G+G Art Award North, announced every two years, honors outstanding positions in contemporary art and is aimed at graduates and students of the Master’s program "Fine Arts" at public academies and art colleges in Hamburg, Kiel, Aarhus, Copenhagen, or Odense. With a total prize money of €10,000 in the form of an art scholarship, the Herbert Gerisch Foundation (Neumünster), together with the Rainer Gröschl Gallery (Kiel), supports the artistic development of talented emerging artists. The prize money may also be divided equally between two artists at the discretion of the awarding jury. An independent expert jury first selects up to ten finalists from all submissions, from which the winners are then chosen in a second step. The evaluation primarily considers the artistic quality of the submitted works as well as the creative potential of the concepts.

In the following year, the Herbert Gerisch Foundation presents the works of the finalists in its exhibition spaces in Neumünster and Kiel, thereby providing additional visibility to the prize winners. Interested artists residing in Germany or Denmark submit their portfolio as a PDF (max. 20 MB), three to five photos of current works, an Artist’s Statement, as well as proof of the Master’s degree ("Fine Arts") or the graduation certificate (not older than three years). All documents must be submitted on a USB stick; a stamped return envelope may optionally be included. The next call for entries will start in 2026; exact deadlines will be published in due course.
