Description
The funding line “Generative AI for smarter CCAM: Enhancing Perception, Decision-Making, and Validation” targets interdisciplinary consortia from educational institutions, companies, and non-profit organizations within the EU and associated countries. In particular, research institutes, technology providers, automobile manufacturers, start-ups, and SMEs in the AI and mobility sectors are invited to develop innovative generative AI solutions for Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) at automation levels L3/L4 and validate them in urban scenarios. Personnel expenses, material and travel costs, as well as subcontractor services, are funded at a rate of 100% over a project duration of up to 36 months. The call foresees a funding amount of up to EUR 6.5 million per project. A prerequisite for application is an interdisciplinary consortium with expertise in AI and mobility that demonstrates its experience in research and innovation and is based in EU member states or associated countries. The submission deadline is October 8, 2026, at 17:00 Brussels time.
The objective is to create energy-efficient, trustworthy perception and decision-making systems that enable increased safety for all road users through generative scenario generation and make CCAM applications scalable. Developers are expected to design robust algorithms, create harmonized tools, and highlight the relevance as well as limitations of generative AI for CCAM. Projects are required to consider European standards and methodologies, such as the Common Evaluation Methodology (EU-CEM), and ensure coordinated collaboration with initiatives like the European Software-defined Vehicle (SDV) and the Automotive Data and Robotics Association (ADRA). Through demonstrations in real urban environments, innovation potentials will be validated and the path paved toward market-ready CCAM solutions.
