Description
The gigabit co-financing from the state of Baden-Württemberg supports technology-neutral and future-proof expansion of gigabit-capable networks and increases the federal funding rate within the framework of the Gigabit Directive 2.0 to up to 90% of eligible expenses. Regional public authorities and companies under exclusively public ownership benefit from a one-time grant that closes existing profitability gaps. This strengthens infrastructure projects in the fields of digitalization, smart cities & regions, as well as infrastructure & urban development. The continuously open application period enables timely project starts via the Baden-Württemberg service portal, where applicants can apply directly for funding upon submission of a federal grant notification.
Eligible expenses primarily include civil engineering, duct installation, and passive infrastructure, as well as external consulting services for the preparation and implementation of the project. Planning and consulting services related to profitability gaps or operator models are not eligible for funding. The selection of project areas is based on evaluation criteria such as catch-up needs, synergy utilization, digital participation in rural areas, and inter-municipal cooperation. Required documents include copies of the application under the Federal Broadband Directive, the corresponding federal grant notification with attachments, as well as documentation of the infrastructure according to GIS ancillary provisions. The program is aimed at all publicly funded actors who have already received federal funding under the Gigabit Directive 2.0 and wish to actively advance network expansion in Baden-Württemberg.
