Description
The Gunter Ullrich Prize for Art Education 2026, awarded by the Gunter Ullrich Foundation Aschaffenburg, invites art educators at general education schools in Aschaffenburg to engage artistically with the life and work of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Under the motto “Ernst Ludwig Kirchner Reloaded 2025,” teachers are encouraged to creatively interpret the diverse facets of the expressionist born in Aschaffenburg together with their students. A five-member jury, supported by art mediator Jennifer Maus, will evaluate the quality of the artistic engagement, originality, and thematic relevance. The goal is to honor outstanding projects from art classes and student works and to make them publicly accessible in July 2026 at the KirchnerHAUS Museum Aschaffenburg.
A total of €1,500 in prize money is available: €1,000 will be awarded to the art department of the honored school, and awards totaling €500 are planned for outstanding individual or group student works. The call is addressed to teachers of all general education schools in the Bavaria region who teach in Aschaffenburg, as well as their students. The submission deadline is March 15, 2026. The program offers a valuable opportunity to emphasize the importance of art education, foster the creativity of young people, and excitingly re-examine Kirchner’s cultural-historical legacy.
