Description
The main call of the German-Polish Science Foundation (DPWS) supports German-Polish research collaborations between one German and one Polish educational institution in the humanities, cultural studies, law, social sciences, and economics. The focus is on projects and scientific events that enable a deepened dialogue between the two countries and address one of the four thematic priorities: Culture and Knowledge Transfer, Europeanization Processes, Change in Norms and Values, or Multilingualism. Eligible applicants are universities, non-university research institutions, and non-profit organizations; additional partners may be involved in exceptional cases. The DPWS aims for as balanced a distribution of funds as possible, whereby up to 60% of the funding may be allocated to one side.
Up to €150,000 per project can be requested as a grant. Eligible expenses include travel costs, event, material, and personnel expenses; an overhead allowance of up to 10% of the requested amount is possible. Evaluation criteria are excellence, German-Polish focus, and acquisition of own funds. Applications must be submitted exclusively via the DPWS online application portal; prior registration and activation are required. The application must include, among other documents, the main call guidelines, the scholarship regulations, explanations of the thematic priorities, a completed sample application, and the signed signature form. The submission period runs from November 1 to 30, 2026; decisions will be communicated in April 2027, and project start is possible no earlier than May 1, 2027.
