Description
Heimat-Zeugnis supports municipalities as well as private and non-profit organizations in North Rhine-Westphalia in the processing and public presentation of local and regional history. The goal is outstanding concepts that make traditions and identity-forming characteristics experientially accessible across generations. Projects that use innovative methods to showcase historical sites, museums, squares, or buildings and allow visitors to immerse themselves in the past in an exciting way are funded. The institution places special emphasis on educational and cultural mediation, so that history is not only documented but also made tangible. The grant supports, for example, multimedia productions, interactive exhibitions, or participatory formats that make a sustainable contribution to civic education.
Applications must be submitted before the project begins to the responsible district government in Düsseldorf, Cologne, Arnsberg, Münster, or Detmold. A prerequisite is that the project is carried out within North Rhine-Westphalia and that the historical presentation sites are publicly accessible. Eligible applicants are cities, districts, municipalities, as well as private and non-profit organizations. A well-developed overall concept and a close interconnection of content, location, and presentation are decisive for funding eligibility. Thanks to ongoing funding opportunities, projects can be planned and implemented flexibly. The total funding amount depends on the scope and significance of the project. Interested institutions can obtain detailed information on the funding guidelines and the online application on the state government’s portals. This way, local cultural heritage can be effectively brought into public awareness and turned into a lively journey of discovery for all generations.
