The Homeland Award of the City of Dormagen 2026 honors non-profit initiatives, associations, and public institutions that sustainably strengthen the sense of community in Dormagen and its 16 districts. The submitted entries must be implemented within the city area, must not be older than twelve months, and must be completed or ready for implementation by the application deadline of September 30, 2026. An independent jury – consisting of representatives from the city council, the historical society, the district homeland association, the shooting club association, as well as members of the state parliament and the mayor – evaluates the submissions based on established criteria such as homeland preservation, remembrance of local sporting development, involvement of youth, and strengthening of community spirit.
The prize money is awarded in three tiers: 1st prize €2,500, 2nd prize €1,500, 3rd prize €1,000. Additionally, evd energieversorgung dormagen sponsors a special prize for youth work in the amount of €800. For entrepreneurs who are particularly committed to Dormagen, the Heinz Lieven Prize is awarded. The application documents include a project description (maximum five pages) as well as optional photos or videos for illustration. With the Homeland Award, the City of Dormagen sets a sign for civic engagement and cultural diversity, promotes identification with the homeland, and motivates participation in shaping the local community.
