Description
“heimspiel. Für Bildung” has been supporting children, adolescents, and young adults in the Hamburg neighborhoods of Hohenhorst (Wandsbek) and Neuwiedenthal (Harburg) since 2012 on their path to successful school completion and transitions into vocational training and employment. Structurally established networks are funded, in which daycare centers, primary and district schools, as well as youth welfare institutions, cooperate closely in an integrated manner. For this purpose, the Alfred Toepfer Foundation F.V.S. provides annual grants of up to 5,000 euros per project. Additionally, local stakeholders can apply for extensive non-monetary support such as consulting, training, reimbursement of material costs, and networking activities. Long-term funding horizons of up to ten years provide planning security for measures aimed at strengthening parental cooperation, language promotion, social skills, and educational transitions.
Project ideas are accepted on an ongoing basis; applications can be submitted informally to the Alfred Toepfer Foundation F.V.S. Application criteria particularly include the structural networking of all educational actors in the neighborhood, the potential to reduce dropout rates, and a participatory approach centered on disadvantaged children and adolescents. As part of qualification offerings, training is provided for teaching, educational, and counseling professionals, and interdisciplinary professional exchanges are initiated. This sustainable support helps to remove obstacles in the educational pathway and improve equal opportunities in socially disadvantaged urban districts.
