Description
The Helene Lange Prize of the EWE Foundation honors outstanding achievements of young scientists in Bremen and Lower Saxony who advance digitalization in the focus areas of energy, society, work, or mobility through application-oriented research. With an endowment of €15,000, the biennially awarded prize supports innovative master’s or doctoral theses, with two-thirds of the prize money flowing directly into ongoing or new research projects. The goal is the sustainable strengthening of women in the digital world, who translate scientific findings into tangible solutions for business and society through creative approaches and bold ideas. An independent jury of experts from academia, industry, and politics evaluates the submissions under the patronage of the Lower Saxony Minister for Science.
Eligible to apply are students and graduates of public and private universities in Bremen and Lower Saxony whose thesis is either completed or in its final stage. The evaluation criteria include degree of innovation, practical relevance, creativity, further research planning, as well as voluntary engagement. Electronic submission of documents is possible from December 15, 2025, to January 31, 2026. Required documents include a letter of motivation, exposé, interim report or final certificate, letter of recommendation, evidence of publications and presentations, as well as a curriculum vitae in tabular form. Three nominated applicants will be invited to the ceremonial award ceremony in March 2026 in Oldenburg. With the Helene Lange Prize, the EWE Foundation sets a sign for equal opportunities and enthusiasm for innovation among young scientists shaping our digital future.
