Funding objective

Funding is provided for investments in new facilities and conversions for the production of sustainable fuels and biofuels (liquid and gaseous biofuels) based on second-generation biomass. The goal is to reduce fossil CO₂ emissions through the development and operation of environmentally compatible production processes.

Description

Within the framework of the nationwide funding program "Production of Biogenic Fuels and Motor Fuels," Kommunalkredit Public Consulting GmbH supports companies, interest groups, associations, and religious institutions in investments in new production and processing facilities as well as in the conversion of existing systems for the generation of liquid and gaseous biofuels based on second-generation biomass. The goal of this initiative is the significant reduction of fossil CO₂ emissions through environmentally friendly production processes. Facilities based on food crops, as well as projects for hydrogen production solely for self-supply, are excluded.

Interested applicants can apply for grants for eligible expenses such as acquisition, installation, planning and assembly costs, as well as raw material and fuel storage, between 01.03.2024 and 31.12.2050. A prerequisite is entrepreneurial activity in Austria and an application submitted prior to the first legally binding order, delivery, or start of construction. The application must include, among other things, a technical project description, a raw material supply concept, a profitability calculation, evidence of purchase agreements, quotations, as well as permits for construction and operation of the facility, and a report from the credit institution. Submission is centralized via the online platform "Meine Förderung," after which KPC conducts a technical review and takes into account EU co-financing from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
