Description
Hessen Kapital specifically strengthens the equity base of small and medium-sized enterprises as well as technology-oriented start-ups in Hesse through silent and open participations. With the funds Hessen Kapital I, II, and III, equity and equity-like capital are provided as an alternative to traditional loan financing. Innovation, growth, and succession projects are supported, as well as university spin-offs and technology-oriented start-ups. Applicant companies must have their headquarters or a branch in Hesse and meet the EU definition of SMEs. A positive business prognosis as well as the establishment or commercial register entry prior to fund disbursement are also prerequisites. The selection criteria are based on the innovativeness of the project, its economic prospects, and technological orientation.
The participation amount ranges from €100,000 to €5 million and varies depending on the fund and form (silent or open participation). Hessen Kapital III is financed equally by the State of Hesse and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Applications can be submitted at any time; among the required documents are the participation principles of the funds Hessen Kapital I–III, the PCGK HK-III checklist, the PCGK HK-III questionnaire, and the Corporate Governance report HK-III. BM H Beteiligungs-Managementgesellschaft Hessen mbH manages the application process and advises on modalities and further requirements. This form of equity participation offers a flexible and long-term financing option that improves liquidity and creditworthiness to promote sustainable growth in Hesse.
