Description
Assistance in Special Life Situations offers private individuals in the federal state of Carinthia a one-time financial support when personal, familial, or economic circumstances or extraordinary events lead to an emergency situation. The aim is to provide immediate relief and to avert sustainable social risks. The funding is granted indefinitely and continuously to stabilize those affected in acute crisis situations and to prevent a slide into permanently precarious conditions. Eligible are Austrian citizens, asylum beneficiaries, as well as permanently settled third-country nationals with at least five years of lawful residence. For EEA citizens and Swiss nationals, registration before January 1, 2006, is considered sufficient proof of settlement. German citizens can claim benefits after one year of uninterrupted residence. Asylum seekers, beneficiaries of subsidiary protection, and persons with a shorter residence status are excluded.
Extensive documentation is required for the application, including an official photo ID, proof of income and expenses, bank statements from the last three months, and for self-employed persons, the current income tax assessment or a certified income/expense statement. Proof of assets such as savings books or, in the case of real estate, land register excerpts and cadastral information must also be submitted. Additionally, award letters for housing allowance or family allowance, rental contracts including operating cost statements, and, if applicable, proof of rent arrears or imminent eviction must be provided. Processing is carried out by Department 11 – Social Affairs, Housing and Labor Market of the Carinthian State Government. Applications can be submitted at any time without a fixed deadline, allowing flexible assistance in critical life situations.
