Description

Help for Self-Help offers continuous nationwide funding for non-profit interest groups and associations engaged in stroke self-help groups. The objective is to strengthen social cohesion as well as to improve health and social structures following a stroke. The grant supports affected individuals, their relatives, and dedicated professionals who volunteer to promote exchange, information, and mutual support. A prerequisite for applying is membership in a stroke self-help group as well as active involvement in the group. Applications can be submitted annually; ongoing funding opportunities ensure sustainable project work.

Funding covers, among other things, event costs for public campaigns, workshop and therapy measures, necessary acquisitions, as well as excursion expenses, e.g., visits to rehabilitation clinics. Additionally, group leaders gain access to multi-day seminars featuring current legal and research findings related to stroke. Informational materials for public relations and a regular newsletter keep all participants up to date. By covering partial costs for approved applications, voluntary commitment is directly strengthened and self-help work throughout Germany is sustainably supported.
