The Hochschulperle is a nationwide open sponsorship program of the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft e. V. that recognizes outstanding educational, research, and innovation projects at German universities every month. Educational institutions can continuously submit project proposals informally via the standardized online procedure. From the twelve monthly pearls, an annual pearl is selected at the end of the year, which is endowed with a one-time prize of €3,000. Initiatives from faculties, institutes, and other entities that exemplarily link research and innovation and thereby strengthen the university as a forward-looking place of learning and research are supported.
The award aims to make innovative best-practice models visible and promote knowledge transfer across university boundaries. The Hochschulperle honors cooperative research formats, new teaching-learning scenarios, or digital transformation projects whose concepts serve as inspiration for other universities. The monthly recognition is without a prize; only the pearl of the year receives the prize money. The continuous submission option allows flexible project planning, while the juried selection process requires high scientific and design quality standards. The Hochschulperle offers a forum for exchange and networking, promotes transfer culture, and underscores the importance of practice-oriented research in the academic world.
