Description
The University Program of the Otto Benecke Foundation e.V. promotes the academic and social integration of prospective students and students with an international background at 26 university locations nationwide. Volunteer mentors (BEST) support, among others, late repatriates, asylum seekers, and refugees in starting their studies through orientation, learning opportunities, events, and local networking. Accompanied by professional training provided by the foundation and in cooperation with trusted lecturers, the BEST enable low-threshold offerings such as campus tours, library tours, lecture visits, study groups, as well as political and cultural events. The goal is the sustainable promotion of academic success and the strengthening of mutual exchange within the university environment.
To work as a BEST mentor, the following applies: You are already enrolled in your second or a higher semester, possess excellent German language skills, independence, high commitment, and motivation for the concerns of students with migration experience. The semi-annual expense allowance amounts to €1,050, and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Required documents include a letter of motivation, a CV, possibly work references, as well as the completed application form from the foundation’s website. The program is aimed at all private individuals who wish to deepen their intercultural competencies and effectively support students with an international background.
