Höger Memorial Prize (Art Award) of the Kaufbeuren Artists Foundation

The Höger Memorial Prize of the Kaufbeuren Artists Foundation honors outstanding visual artists from Kaufbeuren and the surrounding area every two years. Since 2014, the award, endowed with €3,000, has recognized the artistic achievements of young talents who impress through regional roots and high artistic quality. An expert jury selects the laureate from the works presented during the funding period and ceremoniously awards the prize to enhance public awareness of the honored positions and pave the way for further creative developments. The recognition entails not only financial support but also an increased profile within the regional and supraregional art scene.

Eligible are all individual artists residing or exhibiting in Kaufbeuren or the nearby surroundings who are active in the field of visual arts. Supported disciplines include photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, new media, design, jewelry, installation, and conceptual art. Prerequisites are, on the one hand, verifiable regional roots and, on the other, proof of exhibition activity during the respective funding period. Essential evaluation criteria are the artistic quality of the submitted works as well as the connection to the funding area. Interested artists can apply within the framework of regional exhibition participations. With this project, the foundation sets a visible sign for emerging artists and simultaneously promotes cultural diversity in Bavaria.
