Description
Horizon Europe is the comprehensive EU funding program for research and innovation that specifically supports cross-border collaborative projects in science, technology, social sciences and humanities, as well as the cultural and creative sectors. For the funding period 2026–2027, projects in the fields of cultural heritage and the cultural and creative industries are particularly emphasized. Consortia from at least three eligible countries develop novel solutions within research and innovation actions (RIA) for the preservation and digital accessibility of cultural and artistic assets, the strengthening of cultural diversity, and the promotion of resilience and competitiveness of the European cultural and creative sector. The goal is to address societal challenges through interdisciplinary cooperation, foster sustainable growth, and create new jobs.
Eligible applicants include educational institutions, research organizations, public bodies, companies, non-profit organizations, and foundations based or operating in an eligible country. Funding covers expenses for research and innovation activities, project management, as well as workshops and events. Selection is based on the criteria of research excellence, innovation potential, quality of project implementation, and European added value. Application requires, among other documents, a detailed project proposal, a consortium agreement, and a budget plan. Although there are currently no open calls, potential applicants can already seek consortium partners and refine project ideas to successfully submit in the next Horizon Europe call.
