Description
The ImPulsRuhr funding program of the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation focuses on the Ruhr area as a vibrant region of transformation. New project ideas from the fields of science, education, art and culture, sports, and health are supported with an emphasis on social, cultural, ecological, and technological transformation. The aim is to activate local potentials, strengthen innovative capacity, and set sustainable impulses for the cities and districts of the Ruhr Regional Association (RVR). A total of 1.5 million euros in grants are available across two application rounds. Non-profit organizations, associations, and public institutions can apply for funding between 1,000 and 20,000 euros per project; cooperative projects are eligible for up to 30,000 euros. The selection criteria are the level of innovation, the quality and impact of the project, its relevance to the region, and a reasonable own contribution.
Eligible to apply are institutions based in the RVR that can prove their non-profit status. The maximum duration is 24 months; eligible costs include personnel expenses and material resources. Projects already started, investment and infrastructure costs, ongoing operating costs without project reference, individual scholarships, individual case assistance, and printing subsidies are not considered. The first round ends on 05.12.2025, the second on 18.09.2026. Applications are to be submitted exclusively via the Foundation’s online portal. Required are a completed application form, a 3–5 page project description, a cost and financing plan, and proof of non-profit status. With ImPulsRuhr, the Foundation creates spaces for forward-looking initiatives and strengthens the community in the Ruhr area through targeted impulses.
