Description

The MAGICIAN Open Call 2 targets EU companies as well as founders and aims to realize five innovative projects in which selected robotics capabilities of the MAGICIAN framework are transferred to new manufacturing applications. Funding is provided for use cases in key sectors such as aerospace, electronics, heavy goods industry & energy, maritime & shipbuilding, as well as public transportation. The funding amount is up to €200,000 per project with a funding rate of 70% for SMEs and up to 100% for start-ups classified according to the EU definition. The project duration spans 12 months, during which the adaptation and demonstration potentials of the MAGICIAN capabilities (e.g., precise sensors, optimized cameras, advanced AI architectures, or bidirectional interfaces) are evaluated and applied in an industrial environment.

Submission is made via an online form and requires an English-language project proposal in PDF format (max. 15 pages), supplemented by technical and business-oriented descriptions. Core evaluation criteria are Excellence, Impact, and Implementation Quality. Participation of at least one company from an EU member state is a prerequisite. The deadline for completing the individual phase is March 2, 2026, 17:00 CEST. With this call, the EU Commission specifically promotes digitalization and innovation capacity in the European manufacturing sector and creates a platform for companies and start-ups to advance pioneering robotics solutions.
