Description
In Saarland, the Gigabit Premium Plus supports the rapid implementation of gigabit-speed fiber optic connections for high-demand users from business, culture, and non-profit organizations. The state provides a non-repayable grant of up to 75% of eligible civil engineering and passive infrastructure costs, with a maximum of 100,000 euros per connection. The aim of the funding is to realize high-performance routes up to the building connection point, thereby enabling immediate access to modern fiber optic networks. In this way, the digitalization needs, especially of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as public institutions in all regions of Saarland, can be met immediately.
Funding is provided for new construction projects that include civil engineering work and material costs for empty conduits, fiber optic cables, shafts, and joints. Active network components, in-house cabling, and value-added tax are excluded. A prerequisite is operational use at the location and obtaining at least three offers from telecommunications companies, from which the most economical must be selected. Applications can be submitted immediately until October 30, 2026. Approval is granted in the order of complete application receipt, within the available budget. The application is made using binding forms and requires, among other things, cost estimates, a de minimis declaration, and, if applicable, an economic justification. With the Gigabit Premium Plus, Saarland sets new impulses for a future-proof infrastructure and equally strengthens the regional innovation and competitive location.
