Description
The Innovative Minds Program of the German Dementia Aid – DZNE Foundation for Brain and Health is aimed at postdoctoral researchers at the DZNE who wish to further develop their neuroscientific research approaches through targeted grants. After participating in an internal workshop on professional grant application writing, individual applications of up to €20,000 and group applications of up to €30,000 can be submitted. An independent panel of experts evaluates the project proposals based on the criteria of innovation, relevance, and methodology, before the board of trustees makes the final funding decisions at its annual meeting. The program strengthens outstanding young scientists through annual, DZNE-internal calls for proposals and thus contributes to the sustainable development of novel research projects in the fields of dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS.
The funding offers not only financial support but also connects participants with mentors and experts from research & innovation, science, health, as well as labor & social affairs. Through the accompanying workshop structure, methodological and strategic skills are sharpened, giving applicants a decisive advantage in successfully implementing their ideas. In addition to proof of workshop participation, a detailed project proposal and formal DZNE affiliation as a postdoctoral researcher are required. Thanks to clearly defined criteria and a transparent review process, an equal-opportunity platform is created where innovative projects can be advanced to the next phase of neuroscience research.
