Description
The Institute for Monetary and Financial Stability (IMFS) is a scientific center of excellence at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, dedicated to the research of money, currency, and financial stability. It is funded by the "Money and Currency" Foundation with an annual grant of €1 million over a period of ten years. The aim of this initiative is to consolidate innovative research in the fields of monetary macroeconomics, banking regulation, and currency and central bank law at a leading German university. Host institutions must submit an independent project proposal in the funding area, with the funding open nationwide to educational institutions.
In particular, researchers and early-career scholars from the fields of monetary policy, competition policy, financial market law, and the banking sector benefit from this funding. The project duration spans 120 months, during which research projects, teaching activities, and interdisciplinary collaborations are supported. By establishing three endowed professorships focusing on monetary economics, market regulation, and economic and currency law, the IMFS creates a sustainable network of experts. Interested universities in Germany can apply with their concept for the grant and thus contribute to strengthening financial science and policy.
