Description

In Styria, interdisciplinary early intervention and family support are available for children aged 0 to 6 years (or up to three months after school entry) with disabilities, developmental delays, or behavioral disorders. The service is primarily provided in the home environment; if necessary, outpatient care is offered at specialized early intervention centers. The goal is to reduce primary disabilities, prevent secondary problems, and sustainably strengthen caregivers in managing daily life through early, holistic collaboration among professionals from social, health, and educational sectors as well as the family environment. In addition to promoting the health and individual development of the children, the program also supports the social integration and well-being of the entire family.

Funding is provided indefinitely as a grant to privately operated disability facilities approved by official decision, which have a written service agreement with the Styrian State Government. Eligible applicants are institutions that professionally offer interdisciplinary early intervention and family support. A valid official decision and the presence of disability, developmental delay, behavioral disorders, or risk of disability in the child are prerequisites for families to access the service. Thanks to the continuous funding opportunity, institutions can respond flexibly to needs and ensure reliable, high-quality care. This funding approach makes a significant contribution to inclusive social and family policy in the region.
